Temer says he does not foresee running for Planalto, but does not rule it out – 01/28/2026 – Panel

The former president (MDB), 85, says that it is not in his political horizon to contest the Palácio do Planalto again, but he has not completely ruled out the possibility.

“Wherever I go I notice that people want a moderate alternative, they are tired of polarization. Being a candidate is not something that is part of my plans, but let’s wait and see what happens,” Temer told the Panel.

The demonstration took place after one of his greatest allies, former minister Carlos Marun, appeared to be a centrist alternative in the election.

On the Metrópoles portal, he said that he welcomed this possibility and that Temer would unite the party, today divided into wings close to Lula and Bolsonarism.

“More than one candidate, what the country needs is a program, like A Ponte para o Futuro”, stated the former president, in reference to the document that defined his mandate (2016-18).

According to Temer’s allies, he would tend to accept a candidacy if there was a coordinated center-right movement in his name.
