The many mistakes made that almost cost Palmeiras dearly, who debuted in the Brasileirão with a draw this Wednesday (28). The São Paulo team made too many mistakes defensively against Atlético Mineiro and were saved by Vitor Roque, who came on late to avoid the Palmeiras defeat. In the end, the 2-2 in Belo Horizonte was fair.

The match, with a low technical level, was open and full of scoring opportunities due to the gaps provided by both defenses. Defender Murilo and full-back Khellven, who scored an own goal, had terrible days tonight. Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel was also unlucky in two moves. But top scorers Flaco López and Vitor Roque, very much in harmony, scored a goal each and made Palmeiras’ night in Belo Horizonte less bitter.

As in previous games, Palmeiras was fragile defensively and suffered from deep throws to Hulk, who won most of the disputes with the Palmeiras defense. The veteran only didn’t open the scoring because he exaggerated his strength in finishing from the edge of the area.

At least, the São Paulo team displayed a slightly greater repertoire in attack. At the beginning, he tightened his marking and could have taken advantage of that. Then, when he was under pressure, he reached the goal with his best player in 2026: Flaco López.

The Argentine, the team’s top scorer this season, used his head to give Palmeiras the lead after a corner kick from Andreas Pereira. When the match seemed to be under control for the visitors, Atlético broke the draw following a series of errors from the Palmeiras defense. Murilo broke through and left the ball with Victor Hugo, who shot under Carlos Miguel’s legs.

In the second half, the offensive posture was better from Palmeiras, who tightened the miners and made Everson work three times. But the defensive mistakes continued, especially from Khellven, in one of his worst performances since returning from Russian football. The right-back left Cuello free, who finished under Carlos Miguel’s legs. The goal, however, was disallowed because the attacker was offside.

Unlucky, Khellven did worse minutes later. When trying to move away, he sent the ball into the goal and completed the Atlético comeback. Lucky for Palmeiras, Vitor Roque came off the bench to avoid defeat. In the final minutes, Tigrinho beat Everson with talent and luck, thrilled with his first goal of the year and defined the draw in the capital of Minas Gerais.
