The National Association of Delegates sent a letter to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asking for budgetary and institutional reinforcement measures so that it can meet the new missions it has received.
“The Federal Police has continuously received new legal and operational duties, without the corresponding budgetary recomposition”, says the letter,
The message calls for the creation of a National Fund to Combat Criminal Organizations (Funcoc), made up of resources from assets seized from organized crime and destined for the PF.
One of the arguments presented by the corporation is the fact that its work generates budget revenue for the Union.
According to the delegates’ letter, in 2024 and 2025 the Federal Police returned R$6.9 billion and R$9.5 billion to society respectively, through the recovery of assets and values from organized crime. Another data cited is that in 2025, 44,091 police investigations were opened, with a solution rate of 85.5%.
The association says that, despite this, there is a lack of career appreciation, which has been reflected in the loss of professionals and lower demand in public competitions.
The letter mentions “the absence of adequate institutional prerogatives and guarantees and the growing evasion of highly qualified professionals, factors that could compromise, in the medium and long term, the efficiency and technical independence of the institution”.
