Black press portals, dedicated to journalistic coverage of topics related to the area, sent an open letter complaining about the lack of institutional dialogue with the organization.
The document is signed by the portals Mundo Negro and Notícia Preta, which say that the letter is not a criticism of the existence of the ministry, nor a request for funding.
Both complain that over the last three years they have sought a relationship with the ministry, without success. They mention unanswered requests for an interview with the minister, ignored suggestions and reports and requests for positioning for journalistic articles that went unanswered.
“The construction of effective public policies requires permanent listening to organized civil society, especially those who work directly in producing information for the population that the ministry itself seeks to represent”, says the document.
According to the letter, independent black media is not just a potential beneficiary of policies, but rather a “strategic partner, formulator of knowledge, social listening channel and bridge between State and territory”.
The document ends by stating that “without dialogue, the ministry will be lost and the anti-racist communication project that the government proposes to build will be weakened.”
