The study by two US gynecologists could cause an outcry in right-wing conservative and MAGA circles: for the first time, white mothers will make up less than half of all US births in 2024. The political implications that the authors in the journal Jama Network Open point out, it is of course not about the fear of the whites being pushed back according to conspiracy narratives of the “Great Exchange”. Since black and Hispanic women now account for more than 40 percent of births and these populations have the highest maternal mortality rates, experts fear major health risks from any cuts.
