Protesters interrupted the service claiming that the church pastor works for ICE. Three other people who participated in the act also were arrested.

The episode is the latest development in the federal government immigration crackdown in Minneapoliswhich killed two US citizens who were shot dead.

Lemon’s lawyer sharply criticized the arrest. In a statement, Lowell said that instead of investigating the federal agents responsible for the protesters’ deaths, the Trump administration’s Justice Department focused its resources on this arrest.

“This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and transparent attempt to divert attention from the many crises facing this administration will not stand up,” Lowell said, adding that “Don will fight these allegations with vigor and rigor in court.”
