Operation Containment targets group linked to CV in Baixada Fluminense

PCERJ (Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro) concluded, this Friday (30), another stage of the Operation Containment in the community of Lixão, in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense (RJ). The action is ongoing and is the result of an investigation conducted by the DRE (Drug Suppression Police Station of Baixada Fluminense), which identified the activities of a criminal group linked to the CV (Comando Vermelho) in the region.

According to investigations, the group has an organized structure and operates in an integrated manner in the communities of Lixão and Vila Ideal. The investigation indicates that the location is used as an operational base, from where to different points in Baixada Fluminense.

The operation is part of the Cerco Total Task Force and mobilizes agents from the DRE, the DRFA (Baixada Fluminense Auto Theft and Robbery Police Station) and the DRFC (Baixada Fluminense Car Theft and Robbery Police Station), with support from the 59th DP (Duque de Caxias Police Station) and Core (Special Resources Coordination).

According to the Civil Police, its objective is to dismantle the financial, logistical and operational structure of the criminal organization, in addition to executing warrants and arresting those being investigated. To date, the corporation reports that more than 275 people have been captured and another 136 have died in clashes. Around 465 weapons were also seized, including 189 rifles, in addition to more than 50,000 rounds of ammunition.
