Payment of monthly fees in schools and higher education institutions via Pix increased 21% in 2025, with a turnover of R$690 million, according to data from Gennera obtained by CNN Money. The survey considers more than a thousand educational institutions in the country.
Despite the advance, the boleto maintained its leadership in the educational sector, with 56% of operations and R$1.8 billion handled. Next come credit cards (13%) and other means (10%).
According to the survey, in the educational sector, where more than R$200 billion per year is generated in regular education alone, the expectation is for a gradual increase in Pix’s participation.
“Pix has become the preferred method for both those who receive and those who pay. For 2026, considering only the registration period, the volume transacted via Pix has already exceeded the entire year of 2025”, stated Gennera’s CEO, Paulo Sponchiado.
