Donald Trump, the oldest US president ever elected, closes his eyes during cabinet meetings not because he’s sleeping but because he’s…bored, or so he says.
“People say: Close your eyes! Look, it was pretty cold, to be honest,” the 79-year-old president said, referring to last August’s cabinet meeting, which lasted more than three hours and during which he was seen with his eyelids closed.
“It was a bit boring,” he repeated of this marathon meeting, during which his ministers, one after the other, praised him and then he answered several questions from the journalists present.
His political opponents immediately asserted that he was occasionally taking a nap.
Today, Trump convened his cabinet for the tenth time since returning to the White House, but the meeting, which was broadcast live, lasted just one hour. This time the president dismissed the reporters without answering any of their questions.
Among the ministers who remained silent today was Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem, who Democrats are calling for to resign after two protesters were shot dead by federal agents in Minneapolis.
Trump’s health questions and aspirin
For Trump, the issue of his prosperity is a very sensitive one, given that he presents himself as the exact opposite of his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, whom he described as a “grumpy old man.” However, questions about his health persist and multiply, such as the bruises that were observed several times on his right hand and at least once on his left.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump claimed that these hematomas were due to the daily intake of aspirin, the dose of which was deemed high by doctors who suggested that he reduce it. “They say aspirin thins the blood, and I don’t want my heart pumping thick blood,” she said in that interview.
