The sanitation company BRK Ambiental had a net loss of R$24 million in the fourth quarter, compared to a negative performance of R$2 million in the same period of the previous year, according to the balance sheet released this Friday (30).
The operating result measured by adjusted EBITDA was R$555 million, 14.8% above that recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024, with an increase of 15.3% in net revenue and a 14.3% increase in costs and expenses.
The company, which is 70% controlled by Canadian Brookfield with the remainder held by FI-FGTS, ended last year with a loss of R$108 million, after a positive performance of R$7 million in 2024.
The loss rate, an important indicator of operations in the water and sanitation sector, was 34.6% from October to the end of December, falling from 35.3% a year earlier.
The company ended 2025 with a negative financial result 26.7% higher, at R$1.34 billion, pressured by new debts and “increased indexes”.
BRK’s consolidated gross debt totaled R$14.24 billion in December, with 32% concentrated in the holding company and 68% in the SPEs (specific purpose companies) set up by the company to manage different water and sewage concessions across the country.
BRK’s financial leverage ended last year at 6 times, falling from the level of 6.4 times at the end of 2024.
