Chosen to revive John Lennon on the big screen, Harris Dickinson faces the undeniable responsibility of representing one of the most mythologized figures in world pop culture. With long locks and round glasses, Dickinson’s resemblance to the musician is surprising – at least in the presentation image.
Who is Harris Dickinson?
At 29 years old, Dickinson is British from London. On screen, he often plays ambiguous and emotionally complex characters.
The toTor caught the industry’s attention in 2017 when he starred in the independent drama Beach Rats. He then worked on larger and more popular productions such as Maleficent: Dona do Mal (2019), King’s Man: The Origin (2021) and Um Lugar Bem Longe Daqui (2022).
Still in 2022, he joined the cast of Triangle of Sadness, by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, winner of the Palme d’Or at that year’s Cannes Festival. In the film, a satire about the super-rich, Dickinson plays a model.
His last prominent roles were in Iron Claw, opposite Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White, and mainly Babygirl, an erotic thriller in which he plays an intern who has an intense affair with the company’s CEO, Nicole Kidman’s character.
Last year, the actor released Urchin, his first feature film as director and screenwriter. The production premiered in Cannes, at the Un Certain Regard exhibition, and won the critics and best actor awards (for Frank Dillane). The plot follows a homeless man in London, who finds himself trapped in a cycle of self-destruction as he tries to change his life.
In The Beatles – A Cinematographic Event in Four Films, in addition to acting alongside his fellow countrymen, Dickinson will be accompanied by actress Anna Sawai, from Shogun, who will be Yoko Ono in the cinema.
