ÖOC President Horst Nussbaumer: “The better one should win, not the meaner one”

For Horst Nussbaumer, the Olympic Games are not just a sporting event, but an attitude to life that will be remembered. As a rower, he was part of this special bubble three times; today he heads the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC), which sends 52 female and 63 male athletes to Cortina d’Ampezzo and Milan. The 25th Winter Games begin there next Friday. In an Olympic interview with STANDARD, Nussbaumer talks about humility in the athletes’ village and clarifies the question of what role sport should play in a society that is currently reorganizing itself.
