The NBA suspends Paul George for 25 games for violating the anti-doping policy | Basketball | Sports

The NBA announced this Saturday a 25-game ban on the Philadelphia 76ers player for violating the competition’s anti-doping policy by taking an illegal medication. The American league has reported that the suspension will begin this Saturday in the game that the Sixers play against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. “In recent years I have spoken about the importance of mental health and, when recently seeking treatment for a personal problem, I made the mistake of taking inappropriate medication. I take full responsibility for my actions and apologize to the organization, my teammates and the fans of Philadelphia for my poor decision making during this process,” George wrote in a note provided to journalist Shams Charania of ESPN.

George, 35, averaged 16 points per game this year with the 76ers, although he only played in 27 games after suffering a long series of physical problems. Shortly after the NBA announced his suspension, the former Los Angeles Clippers admitted his mistake and explained what his next steps will be during the sanction. “I am focused on using this time to make sure my mind and body are in the best possible condition to help the team when I return.”

The Sixers are sixth in the Eastern Conference with a balance of 26 wins and 21 losses, marking the limit for direct access to the round of 16. The Philadelphia team will have to progress in the regular phase of the NBA without one of its greatest figures.
