USA: Former CNN anchor arrested for participating in anti-ICE protest

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has been arrested, a Justice Department official familiar with the matter said today.

Lemon was live streaming a demonstration in protest of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in the region when protesters disrupted a service at the St. Paul Cathedral in Minnesota.

Lemon’s attorney, Abe Lowell, called his arrest “an unprecedented attack on the First Amendment.”

Lemon stated that he was present at the demonstration as a journalist. He also said that he had been informed in advance but was not aware that the activists would disrupt the church service. He is seen on video arguing with a parishioner about immigration enforcement. Trump administration officials quickly condemned the demonstration and accused the protesters of intimidating Christian believers.
