Protesters gathered this Sunday (1st) on Avenida Paulista to demand justice for the death of Cão Orelha, killed in Santa Catarina at the beginning of January by a group of teenagers. The meeting started around 10am in the MASP bay. Protesters showed up with signs and dogs. Animal activists were also present.

This weekend the case gained a new chapter. The Santa Catarina Civil Police reported that one of the teenagers whose image was widely publicized as a suspect was excluded from the direct investigation and became a witness. According to investigators, analysis of the images confirmed that the young man did not participate in the attacks, corroborating the version presented by the family.

On Thursday (29), two teenagers investigated for the death of the dog Orelha returned to Brazil. which detected the anticipation of the flight of those investigated.

Remember the case

Orelha, a community dog ​​from Praia Brava, in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, . The case of animal abuse, which dates back around 10 years, generated public outcry last week.

On Monday (26), through the Animal Protection Police Station (DPA) and the Police Station for Assistance to Adolescents in Conflict with the Law (Deacle), the Santa Catarina Civil Police carried out search and seizure warrants at the homes of those involved and their legal guardians.

Corporation agents also searched addresses linked to “adults investigated for alleged coercion related to the progress of the process”. After the operation, the Civil Police reported that they identified four teenagers suspected of committing the attacks and three family members of the young people who had allegedly coerced witnesses.
