São Paulo beats Santos and moves away from the relegation zone – 01/31/2026 – Sports

São Paulo achieved its second victory in the Campeonato Paulista by beating Santos 2-0 this Saturday (31), at Morumbi. With the result, the Tricolor team reached seven points in six games and gained momentum in the table, moving away from the relegation zone.

Now, it is Santos who turns on the warning signal. With six points, the Vila Belmiro team occupies 12th place, just two points ahead of Noroeste, which opens the relegation zone, in 15th. The lantern is from Ponte Preta, with only one point added.

The goals that defined the classic all came in the second half, when São Paulo had the numerical advantage on the field. Still in the initial stage, in the 36th minute, Gabriel Menino received a second yellow card after committing a foul near the edge of the area. The player was already hanging after being warned for a disagreement with Enzo Díaz.

With one more player, São Paulo opened the scoring six minutes into the second half, with Gonzalo Tapia. Luciano added five minutes later and sealed the tricolor victory.

The result helps maintain a good atmosphere in the squad after their debut victory in the Brazilian Championship, in the middle of the week, also at Morumbis. On that occasion, São Paulo beat Flamengo 2-1.

Now, São Paulo and Santos will face each other again next Wednesday (4), at 8pm (Brasília time), this time for the Brazilian Championship, in Vila Belmiro. The black and white team is still looking for its first victory in the national competition after debuting with a 4-2 defeat to Chapecoense, away from home.
