For Ciro Nogueira, this year’s elections will remain polarized and with the names of Lula and Bolsonaro as protagonists of the election

The senator and president of the Progressives Party, Ciro Nogueira (PI), said this Monday (2) that Brazil has only had four great leaders in its history, former presidents Getúlio Vargas, Juscelino Kubitschek, Jair Bolsonaro and the head of the Executive, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The parliamentarian made a statement during an interview with the program Straight to the Pointyes Young Pan.

“For the first time, two faced each other,” said Ciro Nogueira in reference to the 2022 presidential elections, in which Lula and Bolsonaro were the protagonists. Regarding the influence of the PT member and the reserve captain, the parliamentarian stated that, as long as they “are in the game”, there is “no room for a third way”. However, the president of Progressistas considered that the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), could have presented himself as an alternative.

Ciro Nogueira assessed that, due to this electoral strength of Lula and Bolsonaro, this year’s elections will also be polarized. Added to this, for the parliamentarian, voters from the center, who “sometimes vote for the right, sometimes for the left”, will decide whether the PT member or the candidate of the reserve captain will win, which would currently be Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

According to the president of Progressistas, They make the same mistake of “talking only to their bubbles”. If Bolsonaro’s eldest son wants to surpass the PT member in the dispute for the Planalto, “he will have to correct this”.

“Flávio will face the man who won the most elections in our history, a great leader, like President Lula”, declared Ciro Nogueira.

Lula, an ‘analogical’ man

Regarding the current head of the Executive, Ciro Nogueira said that Lula came for his third term different from the first, from 2003 to 2007. For the senator, in his first stint in Planalto, the PT member arrived to “unify Brazil”, but now the president only talks to his “bubble”.

When asked if Lula had “forgotten” how to communicate with the National Congress, Ciro Nogueira denied this, however, he stressed that it was a different time. “Lula, when he was President of the Republic [pela primeira vez]arrived at the political parties, handed over the positions and received the votes”, he explained.

The president of Progressistas added that, at that time, “voters didn’t even remember who they voted for for federal deputy or senator”. Different, according to him, from nowadays with social networks.

“Today, the minute I vote in the Federal Senate, I receive criticism or applause on my social networks or on my cell phone”, he exemplified.

The senator assessed that Lula “didn’t get used to” this new reality. Ciro Nogueira said that the head of the Executive speaks for “national radio and television networks”, and would not be familiar with this new era that he classified as “one of cuts”.

“Lula is an analog man in a digital age, that’s his big problem, now, it’s a [político] who has already won three elections and has a captive electorate”, he stated.
