For the deputy, the argument makes no sense, since there is an outbreak of the disease in several parts of the country. She claims that implementation could be done gradually.
Herpes zoster is a viral disease that takes advantage of the weakened immunity of those affected. Symptoms include rash and chronic pain. Depending on the severity, the disease can lead to death.
In 2023, there were more than 120 thousand cases, with 4,000 hospitalization records in the last two years, in addition to the growth in outpatient care.
“According to health professionals, around 95% of adults have already been exposed to herpes, indicating the widespread latent presence of this infection in the Brazilian adult population. This reinforces the need for effective preventive measures. The federal government needs to prioritize. For travel, it always has resources. To vaccinate the people, even in the midst of an outbreak, right?”
Coverage against herpes zoster is currently only available in the private network. Two doses are required, each costing between R$700 and R$950.
