French authorities are investigating an attack in which a student attacked his teacher with a knife on Tuesday. The teacher suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in a critical condition in a hospital in the southern French city of Toulon, BFM television reported, writes TASR.
The police detained a 14-year-old pupil of the 3rd grade of the lower secondary school of La Guicharde in the city of Sanary-sur-Mer in connection with the crimewhom they suspect of attempted murder. According to the prosecutor’s office, the teenager stabbed the 60-year-old art teacher “three to four times”.
Attacks in schools in France have become a serious problem in recent years – they repeatedly face cases of violence perpetrated by students or attackers from outside the school environment, which led to the tightening of security measures, increased police presence and a discussion on the protection of teachers and the prevention of radicalization and psychological problems of young people.
