The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said, this Tuesday (3), that there is no reason to be in a hurry to define his electoral future in 2026. In an interview with BandnewsFM Radiohe stated that, in 2018, he became a candidate with three weeks left before the election and still reached the second round.
“I was launched as a candidate for president on September 9th, with three weeks to go and I went to the second round and I got 45% in the second round. If there was no rush in 2018, why the rush now? Let’s analyze it more calmly, let’s listen to the parties, what each one has to add, what each one wants to do”, he said.
He stated that he is discussing with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) about whether the mission of being a candidate is for him this time, but he denied that he was running away from a sacrifice.
Opportunity with security!
“I never denied myself the difficult task, but I was convinced that that mission was for me. Denying the sacrifice is not what I’m doing. Is this mission now for me? That’s the point I’m discussing with the president,” he added.
