A holiday apartment by the lake has been the dream of many people in Austria, and not just since Corona. The Salzkammergut and other holiday regions have been feeling the consequences of the trend towards second homes for years. The state of Upper Austria has therefore created the possibility of reservation municipalities in which holiday homes are restricted. But there, of all places, reported secondary residences have been increasing for years, as an analysis of registration data from Statistics Austria by the Greens shows. The main residences, on the other hand, are developing below average.
