The Paris prosecutor’s office said it was investigating the social network’s offices in a probe that began in January 2025, while Elon Musk and CEO Linda Giaccarino were summoned to testify.
The prosecution’s cybercrime service is leading the investigation, the agency said in a post on X. Europol and the French police’s cybercrime service are also involved in the investigations.
The investigation opened in January 2025 was expanded to include the creation of sexual content by the Grok chatbot.
The prosecutor’s office explains that it launched the investigation following a complaint by a member of parliament who claims that biased, malicious algorithms may have distorted the operation of an automated data processing system.
There is no comment from X.
The Paris prosecutor’s office also announced that it is abandoning the X platform and will henceforth communicate via LinkedIn (Microsoft ) and Instagram (Meta).
