SP City Hall can reduce club debts – 02/03/2026 – Panel

The City Council established a partnership program with entities to offer sports classes to children enrolled in its education network. Clubs such as Pinheiros and Juventus have already shown interest in submitting proposals.

In return, the mayor’s management () may offer discounts to institutions in the collection of municipal fees or taxes, such as IPTU (Urban Property and Land Tax), or reduce their debts with the municipality.

The information was given by , author of the idea for the program, named “Good in Sports, Good in School”.

“The purpose of the program is to invest in children and adolescents, taking them out of idleness to practice sports with values, rules and discipline, so that they do not fall into crime”, said Nunes’ deputy.

“Let’s assume that a club provides 20 hours a week of part of its structure with teachers, we will carry out a survey of this expense and the city hall can reduce the debt of that entity. But we are not exempting it. Or, if there is no debt, it can reduce the municipal taxes of this club.”

Each entity will be able to present its class project and make a compensation proposal based on a public call, scheduled to begin this month. The program has already been made official through a decree signed by the mayor on January 26th.

Mello Araújo says that, in a meeting with dozens of clubs to present the project at the end of 2025, 30 of them showed interest.

“These clubs have idle hours and already have the structure and professionals to offer, for example, ten places in boxing, 20 places in the field, and so on in swimming, tennis”, says the vice-president.
