He points out, however, that the governor is the one who will define his running mate. “Tarcísio is the one who will choose the vice president. He won’t give up on that”, says the PL chief.
Tarcísio has promised to run for re-election, a scenario that has become more likely with the consolidation of the name of the senator (PL-RJ) to the Presidency.
The dispute for the governor’s vice-president tends to become more fierce in the coming months, especially given the prospect that Tarcísio himself will run for president in 2030. To do so, he would need to resign that year, with the vice-president inheriting command of the state.
Today, the vice-president would like to remain in office. He faces competition within his own party, however, with the desire of the party’s national president, Gilberto Kassab, to fill the vacancy.
The PL argues that the PSD should not take the vice position, among other reasons, due to the fact that Kassab is promoting a “third way” for president, while Tarcísio should support Flávio.
