I put extra money into the PPR: Can I withdraw it without losing tax benefits?

Do you want another €1,000 in 2026? Start with these simple decisions

Podcast

In this episode of Vamos a Contas, a listener asks if you can redeem money placed in your first PRR without losing tax benefits

The listener is 38 years old and took a PPR for the first time last year. At that age (after 35), you are only entitled to a deduction of 350 euros from the IRS. The “problem”‌ is that you put 2,000 euros in the PPR, which means that 250 euros are not covered by the deduction. Can you redeem that 250 euros that you put in “extra” without being penalized by the Finance Department?

As this is the first experience with PPR, the listener is confused about the next reinforcements he will make. I answer his questions in this episode of the podcast. Making a PPR may seem complicated at first, but it is easy to understand. It is one of the best financial tools, if chosen and used well, to prepare for your retirement and even as a way to invest your money to use it before that.
