January jobs report will be released on February 11th

The release of the United States jobs report, the so-called payroll, for January has been rescheduled for February 11, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The data, originally scheduled for February 6, was delayed due to the partial government shutdown. The BLS announced the changes Wednesday, shortly after funding for several agencies, including the Department of Labor, where the BLS is based, was restored.

The January consumer price index report, originally scheduled for Feb. 11, is now scheduled for Feb. 13, the BLS said. Other BLS reports that were supposed to be released this week, including the December Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey and the Employment and Unemployment by Metropolitan Area release, have also been rescheduled.

The partial shutdown ended late Tuesday night (3), after President Donald Trump negotiated with Senate Democrats. The Department of Labor, and most other government agencies, now have funding guaranteed until September 30th.

In addition to the usual monthly payroll and unemployment data, the January jobs report also includes much-anticipated annual employment reviews. They are expected to show that job growth was considerably weaker in the year to March 2025 than initially reported.
