This case would have happened in January, in Balneário Camboriú; The girl is 18 years old and is the daughter of a couple of friends of the magistrate
The minister Marco Buzzi, of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), is accused of sexual harassment against a young woman in Balneário Camboriú (SC).
HAS Young Panthe National Council of Justice (CNJ) reported that statements were taken in relation to the case this Wednesday morning (4). “The case is being processed within the scope of the National Justice Inspectorate, in secrecy, as required by Brazilian legislation. Such a measure is necessary to preserve the privacy and integrity of the victim, in addition to avoiding undue exposure and revictimization”, says the statement.
According to the Metrópoles portal, the victim is 18 years old and is the daughter of a couple of friends of the minister. On January 9, while they were on the beach, she allegedly went towards the sea, where Buzzi was. The harassment would have occurred in the water, with the minister trying to grab her.
The young woman reported the incident to her parents, who left the place and went to São Paulo, where they tried to file a police report. The family was advised to seek the Federal Supreme Court (STF), as the minister has privileged jurisdiction.
In a note, the Minister Marco Buzzi said he was “surprised” by the accusation. He stated that it does not correspond to the facts and that he repudiates “any conclusion that he committed an improper act.”
If proceedings are opened and Buzzi is convicted, he could face administrative sanctions, ranging from a warning to mandatory retirement. The victim’s mother, who is a lawyer, sought out ministers from the STJ to tell her about the case. A member of the court admitted that there is no willingness among colleagues to protect the accused minister.
The couple met the assistant judge of Edson Fachin, president of the STF, on Tuesday (3). Buzzi took office at the STJ in 2011, appointed by Dilma Rousseff.
