According to reports made to the column, Valdemar went straight to the point and reaffirmed his commitment to the senator, which makes De Toni’s candidacy for the Senate for the party unfeasible.
Federal deputy Carol de Toni (PL-SC) intensified conversations about her political future in the last few hours. The parliamentarian spoke at least three times with the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, before making the decision to leave the party.
According to reports made to the column, Valdemar went straight to the point and reaffirmed the commitment made with senator Esperidião Amin (PP-SC), which makes De Toni’s candidacy for the Senate for the PL in 2026 unfeasible.
In an attempt to keep the deputy in the party, the leader even suggested that she remain in the party and assume leadership of the bench, a proposal that did not succeed.
In a frank tone, Valdemar would have told the deputy to “do what was best for her”, signaling that the final decision would be made exclusively by the parliamentarian.
Allies informed the column that the PL national command even considered an intervention in the Santa Catarina directory to reorganize the local scenario. The agreement cited by Valdemar was reached with the president of the PP, Ciro Nogueira, guaranteeing support for Amin’s re-election.
About to leave the PL, Carol de Toni has already received surveys from at least four parties, including Avante, PRD, Podemos, Novo, MDB and PSD.
Before advancing the definition, the deputy also spoke with former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, who expressed support and made herself available to help her politically, regardless of party.
Despite the intense movement behind the scenes, Carol de Toni has not yet defined the party for which she should contest the 2026 elections.
