The actor from Mel Gibson’s magnificent film or the series Narcos died: He was only 55 years old!

The Mexican Academy of Cinematic Arts posted a sad message on Instagram. Actor Gerardo Taracena died at the age of 55. He breathed his last on the last day of January. Viewers may remember him from Mel Gibson’s film Apocalypto or from the series Narcos: Mexico.

“We express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. His work and unforgettable face will remain in the memory of our cinema,” writes the Mexican Film Academy on the social network. Taracen was nominated three times for his acting performance for the Ariel Award, which is the Mexican equivalent of the Oscars. He also starred in the films Mexican, Man on Fire and The Sound of Freedom.

The actor was born in Mexico City and also studied drama at the university there. Between 1992 and 1996, he performed at many theater and dance festivals with the Integro dance group. Since 2007, he has received numerous roles in television series, and has appeared in films since 2001.
