The man who tried to kill Donald Trump on a golf course is sentenced to life in prison

They declare the man guilty who tried to kill Trump in Florida while when he played golf

The man accused of trying to assassinate the president of the United States, (then a candidate for the US presidency), will spend the rest of his life in prison after having been sentenced by a judge to life imprisonment this Wednesday, as demanded by the prosecutors in the case due to his advanced age and the seriousness of the events.

This is Ryan Routh, who was arrested in September 2024, just two months before the elections that the Republican finally won, after trying to murder him on a golf course in Florida. The conviction includes attempted murder of a presidential candidate, the use of a firearm in support of a crime, assault of a federal agent and possession of a firearm, among others.

The convicted man, 59 years old and a construction worker in North Carolina, acted as his own lawyer in the trial (despite not having the necessary training) and requested that he be imposed a sentence of 27 years. During his interventions at the trial, he made some references to figures such as Hitler and assured that he did not intend to kill anyone. However, the judge has finally chosen to sentence him to life imprisonment, as requested by the Prosecutor’s Office.

As the condemned man himself has announced, will file an appeal. “I think that the judge could have wrongly applied an aggravating circumstance for the federal crime of terrorism, and that will probably be the main issue in the appeal. I am going to file an appeal,” he expressed to the media after the ruling.
