Sara Prata was unable to remain indifferent to the destruction caused in the Leiria area, after the passage of Storm Kristin, and decided to go to the most affected regions to help those who need it most, together with some friends.
At the end of the day, and given everything she saw, the actress decided to publish an outburst on social media, realizing that she had the opportunity to go “door to door” on the outskirts of big cities and understand the needs of the population.
“After the day is over, I return with a very clear certainty: large-scale help is essential, yes, but it doesn’t always reach the smallest villages, always so isolated and forgotten, and where greater than the damage, only the human drama. What’s missing are the simple and accurate gestures. The small cars that move easily. Going door to door to take food, hygiene products. Taking care of the elderly. Sitting down. Talking. Looking into the eyes”began by highlighting.
Sara Prata highlighted the gratitude of the people she met and who managed to help in some way, realizing that, more than just essential goods, many need “companionship and support”.
“People are helpless, traumatized and still can’t even process what is happening. They need both company and essential goods. They need to feel that they are not alone, that this didn’t just happen to them. I lost count of the times I heard the word “thank you”. I didn’t come across anyone who didn’t say that”he highlighted.
Sara Prata then appealed to citizens for help: “(…) If you want to help, you don’t need to think big, just the micro. Today, keeping two or three people company and just taking a few things is a huge help. Because what we see on TV is just a tiny piece of the enormous disaster that can be seen there for miles on end, which left no one safe, and only reinforced the certainty of the importance of holding on to each other. There are only a few of us. 🤍”he further wrote.
