Berlin airport, the capital of Germany, was hit this Thursday morning (5) by snow and freezing rain that caused delays or cancellations of several flights.
The airport said on its website that there were no takeoffs due to weather conditions and asked passengers to check the status of their flights with their airlines.
Regional public broadcaster RBB reported that the planes could not be de-iced due to rain that quickly turned to ice.
At 10:15 am (local time), there were still no flights taking off, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.
Fresh snow and freezing rain fell overnight and into the morning in eastern Germany, also causing disruption to roads and rail traffic.
