IL admits, for the first time, two allegations of harassment; None are about Cotrim

Mariana Leitão, leader of IL

One of the complaints is from Inês Bichão, despite the party guaranteeing that it has nothing to do with João Cotrim de Figueiredo.

The “soap opera” appeared a few days before the first round of the presidential elections: one of sexual harassment directed to João Cotrim de Figueiredo.

A former IL parliamentary advisor, Inês Bichão, who now works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described in detail alleged situations with the then party leader.

IL said nothing about the matter in advance. Although it emerged that the party had already known about this matter for two years.

In fact, when they were questioned about complaints, before the first round of elections, several leaders deviated from this “dirty campaign”. Mariana Leitão never said there were allegations and spoke of “serious matters”.

Three weeks later, the IL shared a statementthis Wednesday. And announces that received two internal complaints – none against Cotrim.

“There has never been any insinuation, report, complaint or denunciation, of any nature, at any time, in the history of IL regarding João Cotrim Figueiredo”, reports the party.

In relation to two “situations of this nature”there are no details. There are no names, nor is it known what “nature” it is.

But it informs you that one of the complaints was actually made by Inês Bichão – although it is not known who the target was.

What is known: “The first of them gave rise to a formal process that followed all the required procedures, both legal and internal, and was archived. The second did not identify any facts and did not indicate evidence, with IL making attempts to have it developed or implemented, without ever obtaining any response from its author.”
