Senator Izalci Lucas (PSDB-DF) requested information from Banco de Brasília (BRB) about the institution’s decision to offer for sale, on the financial market, a asset portfolio acquired from Master bank. The request was formalized through a letter sent this Wednesday (5) to the bank’s president and to which Jovem Pan had access.

In the document, Izalci requests access to the forensic audit report and questions details of the operation which, according to information recently released by the press, would involve negotiations conducted by financial market agents in São Paulo.

The senator claims to act in the exercise of the constitutional duty of monitoring the use of public resources and highlights the relevance of the topic given the possible impacts on the financial strength of the bank, the protection of customers and the interests of the controlling entity — the Government of the Federal District.

Among the clarifications requested, Izalci asks detailed breakdown of the assets that Banco de Brasília intends to sellin addition to information on the possible inclusion of the institution’s own assets in the sales process, in addition to the portfolio acquired from Banco Master.

The parliamentarian also questions the full value of the portfolio purchased by BRBwith the identification of the main asset categories. One of the central points of the letter deals with the revaluation of these assets: according to the senator, assets initially estimated at around R$12 billion — and which were suspected of fraud — would have started to be traded for a value close to R$2 billion.

“It is essential to identify the assets, guarantees and fund shares that support this current transaction”, states Izalci in the document.

The letter was filed with the Federal Senate and requests an urgent response.
