Registration is open for the 2026 edition of what is considered the oldest international award in activity.
Created in 1938 by the award, it recognizes professionals with work with a social impact, long-term commitment to relevant themes and work in defense of press freedom.
Applications are due until March 12, 2026 and must include a CV or biography, a statement explaining how the nominee’s work contributed to dialogue between the countries of the Americas, five to ten reports representing their career and one to three letters of recommendation.
In addition to the individual candidacy, it is also possible to nominate other journalists or organizations. The winners receive a Cabot medal and a prize of US$5,000 (about R$26,000).
