Nobody spoke to me about taking over the Ministry of Planning, says Esther Dweck

The Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), Esther Dweck, denied having been approached to take over the Ministry of Planning and Budget if Minister Simone Tebet leaves the position to contest the elections.

“The president didn’t talk to me about it, but I think it’s important for the portfolios to remain separate,” said Dweck, in an interview with journalist Míriam Leitão broadcast by GloboNews on Wednesday night (4).

Dweck stated that the third term of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) promoted the biggest restructuring in people management in a government. The minister highlighted the creation of the Unified National Competition and the establishment of quotas for minorities as important achievements.

“We lengthened careers, reaching 36% of them with 20 levels, and created entry-level positions with lower salaries,” said Dweck, about the reforms that affected the federal civil service.
