Santos concedes a draw to São Paulo and extends the negative series – 02/04/2026 – Sports

Santos missed out this Wednesday (4) on the chance to end an uncomfortable streak of victories during the season. Against São Paulo, in the Brazilian Championship, at Vila Belmiro, the black and white team took the lead, but conceded the draw and reached the mark of seven consecutive matches without winning.

Zé Rafael opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, while Jonathan Calleri declared a 1-1 draw in the 21st minute of the final stage.

During the match, members of an organized Santos fan protested against president Marcelo Teixeira and executive director Alexandre Mattos.

After remaining silent throughout the first half, the fans began to sing chants such as “management, pay attention, I want the team to shout ‘it’s champion'” and “hey, you there, do you think it’s normal to fight to avoid falling?”.

The revolt is related to the team’s poor start to the season. Now there are eight games, with just one victory — still in the debut of the Campeonato Paulista over Novorizontino —, in addition to three defeats and four draws.

In the Brazilian Championship, after debuting with a 4-2 defeat to Chapecoense, Santos scored their first point with a draw against their rival Tricolor.

São Paulo, in turn, reached four points in the competition. In the opening of the tournament, the team led by Hernán Crespo beat Flamengo, 2-1.

Santos and São Paulo return to the field next weekend, this time for the Campeonato Paulista. On Saturday, the Morumbi team faces Primavera, at 8:30 pm. On Sunday, the black and white team visits Noroeste, at 4pm.
