New START Strategic Offensive Weapons Treaty is the latest arms control agreement between the United States and the Russian Federation, the largest nuclear powers possessing approximately 90 percent of all nuclear weapons. The document was signed on April 8, 2010 in Prague by the presidents of the USA and Russia, Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev.
Former US President Joe Biden agreed with Russia to extend it for five years after defeating current President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
