The PCMG (Civil Police of Minas Gerais) concluded, this Wednesday (4), the investigation that found torture, ill-treatment and death of a cat in Taiobeiras, in the North of Minas. Two men, aged 21 and 25, were accused of the crime.
According to investigations, the animal suffered repeated attacks in a closed environment and died after being beaten with kicks and blows. After death, the body of the cat — which was pregnant — was placed in a garbage bag and discarded in a wooded area close to the suspects’ residence.
Security camera footage recorded one of the suspects leaving the property with a black bag, later identified as the one in which the animal was found. Photographic records sent to the Civil Police for expertise confirmed signs of beatings and characterized the mistreatment.
“This is a crime committed with extreme cruelty, against a defenseless animal, which requires a firm response from the State. The action of the Civil Police was quick and technical to ensure the accountability of those involved”, highlights delegate Thiago Cavalcante, responsible for the investigation.
With the conclusion of the investigation, the procedure was forwarded to the Court for analysis by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and adoption of the appropriate legal measures. Those investigated were indicted for qualified ill-treatment resulting in death.
