National president of the PSDB, reacted in harsh terms to the harassment by , chief of , of Tucano affiliates, saying that he behaves in a predatory manner.

The reaction was motivated by the announcement. What particularly bothered the Tucano leader was the way the negotiation was carried out, en bloc, after coffee at Kassab’s house.
“He needs to [Kassab] know that the PSDB is not for sale. According to Tucano, Kassab’s party “throughout its short history, has not given a day of service in opposition to any government, neither federal nor state.”
“Brazil needs more programmatic parties and fewer pragmatic parties”, he adds.
The PSDB’s discomfort with Kassab dates back to previous episodes of membership of Tucano cadres, a party that has greatly decreased in size in recent years.
Examples include the governors of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as dozens of mayors and councilors in the state of São Paulo, who migrated to the PSD.
“We underwent liposuction, but we will come back even stronger and more coherent, respecting our history, presenting a project for Brazil, without depending on public positions, ministries or funds and agreements to strengthen us”, says Aécio.
