Ramagem testifies to the STF after Moraes reopens the case – 02/06/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The impeached federal deputy (-RJ) gave a statement to the (Supreme Federal Court) on Thursday (5), after the minister reopened, in December 2025, the former parliamentarian’s sentence.

The interrogation of the director of the (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) during the (PL) government was carried out via video conference, from 9:05 am to 9:56 am, according to minutes released by the Supreme Court this Friday (6).

The hearing was conducted by an assistant judge from Moraes’ office, rapporteur of the coup plot in the court. Ramagem was accompanied by his lawyer, Paulo Cintra. According to the minutes, the former deputy answered questions from the assistant judge, but also chose to remain silent at certain times.

The document also states that the lawyer asked for the witnesses presented by the defense to withdraw from the hearing. The procedure had been determined by Moraes when reopening the process.

Ramagem is considered a fugitive from Brazilian justice, after fleeing Brazil and going to the United States last year. According to the general director of , Andrei Rodrigues, the former director of Abin do Brasil on the border with Guyana.

The trial of some of the coup plot crimes that occurred after Ramagem’s diploma had taken place while he was still a federal deputy.

These are the criminal types linked to the 8th of January: damage qualified by violence and serious threat, against the Union’s property, and with considerable damage to the victim and deterioration of listed property.

In December, the Board of Directors of the Ramagem Chamber, which paved the way for Moraes’ decision to reopen the case against him. The former parliamentarian was sentenced by the STF to 16 years and one month in state prison.

The Chamber of Deputies also features Ramagem and the former federal deputy (PL), who, like the former director of Abin, had his mandate revoked and is in the United States.

The cancellation of their passports does not immediately affect their stay in the USA, according to diplomatic sources from the American government. This right is granted, generally with a defined period, when a citizen of another country enters United States territory.

The Brazilian government requests Ramagem’s extradition. The request has already been forwarded by the Ministry of Justice to Itamaraty, .
