Scholarship holders see Tarcísio’s disregard for security – 02/05/2026 – Panel

The dismissal of at least 14 people linked to the department’s former Secretary of Security, announced this Wednesday (4), is the culmination of a months-long process of wear and tear between him and the governor (Republicans).

According to people who follow the issue, a constant complaint from the then secretary was the lack of government investment in the area, which would go against Tarcísio’s campaign commitment to prioritize security.

Among the promises that were allegedly broken by the governor are a career plan for civil and military police officers and repressed salary adjustments, delays in approving the new Civil Police Organic Law and delays in the Safe Housing program, providing housing for around 50 thousand police officers.

The secretariat’s investment budget, which reached R$1.3 billion during the João Doria administration, fell to R$250 million in 2024, being partially restored only with parliamentary amendments. One of the results was the scrapping of equipment such as bulletproof vests.

As it was an order coming directly from Tarcísio, it was left to the

People linked to Derrite also say behind the scenes that the governor’s decision was a shot in the foot, for removing from command posts in the secretariat people who took care of the structure to combat organized crime, and that there will inevitably be turbulence in the area at a sensitive time, on the cusp of an electoral campaign.

C saying that it is yet another symptom that Tarcísio has no affinity with the right. Derrite was, after all, former president Jair Bolsonaro’s main ally in the secretariat.

Despite the dissatisfaction, people close to the former secretary say that he does not intend to break with Tarcísio and should be on his ticket for re-election, as a candidate for the Senate. The alliance would be preserved within the greater objective of defeating Lula and helping in the election of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) as president.
