They are as beautiful as hydrangeas, and much less demanding. Any gardener can handle it

The easiest alternatives to hydrangeas to grow include species that tolerate frost, drought and changing weather conditions well.. They do not require complicated care, and their flowering is spectacular for many weeks. Forsythia, lilac and jasmine are shrubs that can transform a garden without the need for daily care.

Forsythia is one of the earliest flowering shrubs in Polish gardens. Yellow flowers, appearing before the leaves, introduce spring color before the garden becomes green for good. This is not the only reason to introduce it into cultivation.

The plant is resistant to frost, does not require watering except during periods of drought and does well in our climate. Starsier bushes, unlike hydrangeas, practically do not need any care. All they need is pruning, which is done only after flowering.

Elderberry impresses not only with its appearance, but above all with its intense scent. It is an exceptionally resistant shrub that grows well in both sun and partial shade, does not require frequent pruning, and blooms equally profusely every year.

The common lilac often grows wild because it occurs naturally in Poland. It can survive in forests, meadows and balks without any care, and it will behave no differently in the garden. It is a classic that never goes out of fashion and is much less problematic than hydrangeas, especially in changing weather. Delicious-smelling lilacs appear in May, when the forsythias have already bloomed. Therefore, they are a continuation of flowering in home gardens.

Jasmine is a shrub that, according to many gardeners, is one of the most rewarding to grow. It blooms from May to June, producing large, bright, intensely scented flowers. Few people know that the aroma of jasmine has a relaxing effect and relieves stress. It also attracts pollinating insects to the garden.

It is a frost-resistant shrub that does not have high soil requirements and does well both alone and in hedges. The only thing that jasmine doesn’t like is extremely dry soil. Just remember to water it during periods of drought, because every year it bursts with a riot of flowers and fragrances.
