The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday night, the 5th, a new website to help Americans directly buy selected medicines at a discount. Information about the launch of the new platform, TrumpRx, had already been anticipated by the White House this afternoon.
“Starting today, dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts to all consumers through a new website, TrumpRx.gov,” Trump said at a White House event. He was accompanied by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz and government design chief Joe Gebbia.
The Republican also stated that the US subsidized medicines for the rest of the world, “but that will no longer happen”. Partners for the project include pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk and Pfizer.

The move seeks to combat cost-of-living concerns that pose a threat to the Republican administration ahead of November’s congressional elections.
