Austria’s best downhill skiers continue to play third fiddle

Bormio – There was no surprise in Bormio on Saturday – also to the chagrin of the Austrians: the current best downhill skiers prevailed in the Olympic downhill on the Stelvio. With one exception: the dominator and three-time season winner in World Cup downhill skiing, Marco Odermatt, came away empty-handed in fourth place. Otherwise, the first highlight of these games was, as expected, a duel between the Swiss and Italians. In the end, the first five places were divided between three Swiss and two downhill skiers from the host country. As expected, Austria only played third fiddle.
