Bia tries to recover her best form, after being out of action for four months last year

Bia Haddad Maia achieved her first victory in 2026. After being eliminated in the first round at the Adelaide Tournament, the Australian Open and the WTA in Abu Dhabi, the Brazilian tennis player debuted with triumph in the qualifier for the WTA 100 in Doha, Qatar, by beating the host Mubaraka Al-Maimi with a double 6/0, in just 46 minutes.

Eighth seed in the qualifier, Bia returns to the court at 5 am this Saturday (Brasília time), against Russian Anastasia Zakharova (107th in the ranking)who eliminated Austrian Julia Grabher (78th in the world). In 2023, after beating powerful opponents such as Spain’s Paula Badosa and Russia’s Daria Kasatkina, she ended her participation in the WTA in Doha in the quarterfinals.

Bia is trying to get back into top shape, after being out of action for four months last year, when she focused on her mental health. Currently, the 27-year-old Brazilian is in 68th place in the world rankings.
