Futsal European Championship: Portugal loses final to Spain and misses 'tri'

The Portuguese team lost 5-5 to Spain in the European Futsal final, em Liblican, in Slovenia.

This Saturday, the Portuguese futsal team failed to win its third consecutive European title, losing 5-3 to Spain in the final of the competition held in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Antonio Pérez, with three goals, in the two, 20th and 36th minutes, was the great figure for the Spanish, who also scored through José Raya, at three, and Adolfo Fernández, at 40, while Afonso Jesus, at five, Rúben Góis, at seven, and Pauleta, at 30, scored Portugal’s goals.

After the achievements in 2018, against Spain, and 2022, against Russia, the Portuguese team failed to complete the ‘tri’ in the fourth final he played and lost again with ‘la roja’as had happened in 2010, in the first decision he played.

Portugal remains in equality with Italy in the ranking of achievements, both with two, just behind Spain, which reinforced its status as an outstanding leader and reached eight trophies (1996, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2026).
