If you suffer from hemorrhoids, these activities are taboo for you: An expert warns against mistakes that irritate your anus!

Regime measures are important in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhoids. You need to pay attention to a healthy diet or enough fluids, as well as regular exercise and adequate hygiene. This was pointed out by Božena Pekárková, regional expert of the Slovak Ministry of Health for gastroenterology.

“In order to prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoidal disease, it is important to focus on effective prevention in the form of following certain regimen measures. However, they are even more important for those people who already have hemorrhoids and suffer from their symptoms. Regime measures are part of the prevention and complex treatment of hemorrhoids, while during treatment, it is advisable to combine them with tablets or capsules and supportive local treatment in the form of ointments, creams or suppositories,” clarified the expert.

As part of the diet, it is necessary to include enough foods with a high fiber content, such as fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole grain products. Adequate fluid intake is equally important. “When we don’t drink enough fluids, the body is dehydrated and the stool is harder. Drink at least two liters of water a day. If you exercise or sweat a lot, drink even more water.” explained Pekárková.

Regular exercise is also important, which in connection with hemorrhoidal disease helps prevent constipation and reduces pressure on the veins in the anus, i.e. hemorrhoids. “Focus on suitable physical activity, such as walking, running or swimming. If you have an attack of hemorrhoids, avoid sedentary sports, such as cycling, and sports where the goal is to lift heavy weights, such as bodybuilding.” recommended by the doctor. People should also avoid sitting or standing for a long time.

She emphasized that hygiene in the area of the anus should be adequate, not excessive. “Avoid using soaps or shower gels too often. You should use preparations that do not irritate the skin,” he advises. According to her, people should not suppress the urge to defecate. “If we hold the stool, it can become harder, which often means problems when emptying,” she explained. He recommends using softer or moister toilet paper. According to her, it is ideal to pad your feet when defecating.
