Former football player, Iker Casillas, filed a complaint with the authorities for a robbery allegedly committed when he lived in Portugal, involving high-value goods and someone in his trusted circle. At issue is the disappearance of five luxury watches valued at around 200,000 euros, in a situation that dates back to the period when the former goalkeeper lived in Porto.
Despite no longer having a relationship with Sara Carbonero, the former couple’s name was once again associated with this case, which was made public around three months ago. According to Flash! magazine, the Spanish footballer suspects that the perpetrator of the theft was the maid who had worked for the family since 2019.
According to the same source, Casillas completely trusted the employee, to whom he even handed over the keys to his house. This close relationship would have allowed access to the objects that would disappear without raising immediate suspicion.
The publication states that the theft was only detected later, when the former goalkeeper realized that the watches he owned no longer corresponded to the originals.
Replicas to save time
According to the same source, the scheme involved replacing real watches with replicas. This maneuver allowed the original objects to be sold before the theft was discovered. The magazine writes that this exchange was essential to delay the identification of the crime and hinder the immediate recovery of the pieces.
However, new data about the case has emerged. The publication adds that the domestic worker’s husband worked as a security guard in the gated community where Iker Casillas and Sara Carbonero lived. According to the same source, this man played a central role in the theft, taking advantage of his knowledge of the family’s habits and the security routines of the urbanization.
Debts, gambling and partial confession
The employee’s husband ended up admitting to the police that he had unpaid debts and gambling-related problems. The same source states that this situation was decisive for the commission of the crime.
The investigation points to this element as the mastermind of the scheme, with several replica watches being found in the couple’s home, allegedly destined for new replacements.
According to statements released by the magazine, authorities managed to recover a complete watch and components from other models. Still, three of the five pieces remain missing. The same source indicates that the objective of the investigation is now to locate the missing watches and investigate the entire sales circuit used.
Attempt to sell in parts
Meanwhile, the suspect was captured by surveillance cameras in a store when he tried to sell the watches in parts. According to the magazine, this operation yielded around 8,000 euros. The case remains under investigation, with the Portuguese authorities working to recover the assets and fully clarify the facts related to the robbery.
