The Mixed CPI asked the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court), to authorize the departure of the former banker, owner of , in a “private aircraft belonging to his defenders”.
The craft, obtained by Sheetwas signed on the 3rd, by the president of the CPI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG). He argued that the measure would be in compliance with Vorcaro’s defense recommendation and for “savings to the treasury”.
He also requested that agents from the Legislative Police of the Federal Senate escort the former banker along the entire route from his residence to the Congress premises and, if appropriate, that the minister appoint representatives from the Federal Police to assist them.
Vorcaro’s defense told the CPI that transporting the deponent on a private aircraft would be necessary for security reasons, to preserve his image and avoid riots at airports with his presence.
There would still be no definition of which aircraft would carry out this transport, if the measure is authorized by Toffoli. The defense analyzes whether it would charter a jet or borrow one,
It is the second time that his lawyers have made requests to transport the Master’s owner on jets. The defense with the former president of BRB (Bank of Brasília), Paulo Henrique Costa, on December 30th. At the time, Toffoli denied the request, stating that he owned a house in Brasília.
He would also have signaled other stances in the statement he will make to the INSS CPI, such as restricting his answers to questions about discounts on retirees’ and pensioners’ accounts and avoiding topics that could put him in conflict with PT politicians or members of the centrão.
For now, Vorcaro’s intention is to say that questions linked to his relationship with politicians, or about the sale of Master to BRB, are outside the scope of the CPI.
Vorcaro’s presence on the commission has been exploited by some members of the CPI as a weapon against political opponents. The expectation of these parliamentarians was that he would give messages that could increase tension in Brasília.
The ex-banker’s defense resisted his participation in the collegiate, but faced with the pressure for the call, he signaled to Dias Toffoli that the ex-banker would be willing to appear at the CPI and speak.
The president of the group said that he accepted the postponement of the testimony at the defense’s request as an agreement so that the lawyers would not ask the court to be absent from the commission. He also said that he is already protected by the Constitution to remain silent on topics being investigated.
